needless to say, the trip was fab. started out with a nice long flight where we received the traditional pretzel snack bag. even the pretzels are strange shapes there! i had a bag full of these guys and i still can't figure out what it is.
after the flight we hopped on a train through the alps where a german guy, eager to use his english, poked fun at the shorts, t-shirt, and flip-flops that brady was wearing. yes it is october, and yes there was snow in the alps.
after the flight and train ride, we were greeted with 'i think we're alone now' by 80's artist, tiffany blaring on the radio. finally we ended up at our destination--the locarno, switzerland train station. new york has the metro, san francisco has the bart, locarno has the: (picture below)
the next day brady worked and i trotted off to milan. that crazy city has no bathrooms and i quickly learned that italians are crummy direction-givers. between getting lost and switched around, i ate gelato for lunch and concluded that italians can wear white all year round because the don't have a labor day. i also learned and was so entertained to learn that they LOVE their fall clothes and were bundled up with scarves and zipped up jackets despite the balmy 80+ degree weather (and that was in the shade). culprit in black coat below . . .

I would fly there everyday (if I had the $) just for hazelnut gelato! Heaven on earth that stuff!
