missing joe

guess what?  i'm not going to post any africa pics in this post.  i should have organized those pics better so that there weren't 50 posts about it, but it was such an incredible experience that i really couldn't stop sharing.

today i actually need to have a serious vent session chat.  i know that i have casually mentioned it before here and here and maybe here, and resisted doing so in every other post, but i am SO hungry.  i miss good ol' food in mi homeland so much and the cravings aren't fading.  at.  all.  in fact, i'm feeling more and more frustrated by my lack of satiation.  b will say, "hey sweetheart, it's friday!  let's go out to dinner!".  that was once a phrase that emoted excitement and possibilities, and maybe even a brush through my hair.  alas, it is totally the opposite now.  we did go out to eat a couple of times this week because i'm frankly very tired of cheese, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  the first night we went out and i got lasagna.  i also nibbled on brady's gnocchi which was pretty good.  i also ate a couple of pieces of focaccia pizza a couple of times this week for lunch, which was new for me.  and that's exactly what i was looking for, something new.  (even though i just realized that i ate the same thing a couple of times.  maybe i am assimilating better than i thought.)  then last night we went out and i had . . . drumroll please . . . tortellini with the same type of sauce that was used on my lasagna from a different restaurant on a different night.

the lack of variety is killing my little free-spirited pallette and i regularly have break downs about it.  so after another pathetic one last night i told the patient b that i was going to try and not mention it anymore.  i put on a brave face and was starting anew.  i've been so good today, but then, as i opened up my email, there was an advertisement suggesting a blog that i would like: http://www.whatsgoodattraderjoes.com/.  i opened it up and tears--actual tears began forming as i started scrolling down and reminiscing.  who plotted this terrible joke?!!!

let's end on a positive note, though.  isn't this house amazing?  i am totally obsessed with it as well as a new found love of mine, pininterest.  you can click on the link and it will take you to my boards, which include le cracked casa.

on the tiny island of coll with just two hundred residents off the coast of scotland sits a modest masterwork of modern renovation--a brand new home slotted delicately inside the reinforced crumbling stone ruins of an ancient local manor.  by wt architecture.
