we're finally here and are so excited for our new adventure!
the day we left sd was a hectic one. of course. i really hate hectic. so we finally got to the airport (i was panting more than moshi). we were boarding onto our flight when i was greeted by a german guy at the door. he looked at the dog bag i was carrying, raised his left eyebrow and suspiciously asked in a thick accent, "is there a dog in there?"
i responded confidently, gripping moshi's plane ticket and vaccination record, "yes."
staring me straight in the eye he sternly said, "you understand that you are not allowed to take your dog out at all during the flight?"
"um, yes."
"consider yourself warned."
yikes! so my plan to have mosh secretly curled up on my lap under the blanket was officially thwarted. anyhoo, moshi did great on the flight--in her bag. we gave her a little sedative which helped. ;) the only issue we had with her was when i got up to go to the bathroom a few hours before landing, she managed to get out of her carrier and ran up the aisle. brady didn't realize it until he saw some lady several rows up holding her and looking around for the little breakout's owners. our bad! maybe she just pretended that the sedative worked so that she could take advantage when i wasn't looking. fortunately mr. warm welcomer didn't see the incident.
other than that one time, even when she had an opportunity to get out of her bag, she chose not to. i think she was a little overwhelmed. and she's typically super social, but she's officially scared of swiss people and dogs. i think it's because she doesn't speak italian. hopefully she and i will both learn soon.
$1500 in extra baggage fees. we had a couple of suitcases that were over $400 each because of weight.
moving day came and blocked the street below the apt. i love the cute little european truck backed up to the shipping container.
the movers used this contraption to move things up into the apt.
the boxes were so heavy and stacked so high. the rule of thumb that the lighter ones go on top did not apply.
so with all of that moving, i thought that we'd be settled by now. (i don't function well when things are disorganized. thanks, mom!) every day i would be at the apt unpacking and organizing, when i soon realized that there was some major noisage from the apt above us. (which is apparently VERY unusual because the swiss take great pride in being silent). i had issues with the apt from the get go because i can't handle feeling surrounded by people. so not only was i surrounded visually, but the noise from above would fill the apt every day and i had a serious breakdown. we're talking fetal position, sobbing and hiccups. with his wife in despair, brady quickly took action and talked to some people, and soon got the ok from work to move again. oh, joyous day of sunshine and candy, i can't tell you my relief! now i'm packing up the boxes that i had so proudly unpacked, but with a pep in my wrapping. and a pup running through the wrapping that i need for wrapping up what i just unwrapped.

At least you didn't unpack everything, right? I hope the house hunting is going well and that you get to organize your home real soon. How is Brady liking his new job?
