have i mentioned that we've been doing a little sprucing up? we started with the master bath . . . and it quickly became a complete gut.
that's the tank for the wall mounted toilet on the right. i've wanted a wall mounted toilet since i was a little kid! no joke!
then we decided, hey, since we're replacing the walls, let's replace part of the slab for a step down shower. we might as well.
i knew we were in for the long haul when b said that he was going to get a shop vac and came home with the largest one they had. i'm just grateful that they don't stock a larger one. you can push this like a lawn mower, fyi.
and the man of my dreams cutting our eco friendly r13 denim insulation. notice that i haven't been in any of the shots? i've been more on the emotional support side.
needless to say, the sprucing has been spreading (more pictures to come, sigh, over the next few months). the remodeling is going so so so. the extra so is because it is taking so very long to complete, and things get added to the list almost daily. b just came inside from digging a drainage ditch in the backyard and surprise surprise, he was covered in dirt. (found some mold in the master bedroom, have to redirect backyard water, and have now relocated to the guest room). i'm over the messes and expense, but can't wait for the end result!!!
and last but not least, i am an eco girl, but am so relieved that we finally got our (2) huge pine trees removed! i can't help but feel a little sad and guilty about having removed something so old and so distinguished. but then i pull up to the driveway and no longer see huge piles of pine needles spread like pliers around everything within 25' and say, thank you francisco! keep the change.

i can't wait to see!! and you are lucky you have a man that will do the work ... :) I bet it's going to be everything you've wanted. btw, i've been thinking about you ... we need to chat.
charlot! did you have to get city permits to remove the pines? i would love to remove the two in our backyard but i think pasadena is a stickler when it comes to trees. we're replacing windows in two of the bedrooms and they have to be egress windows which basically means "more money please." hope you have a good week!
